Amplified Farms | Our Story

This tale commences with two friends, Steve, and Zach, skipping school in Sacramento, CA in the mid-90s. Their passion for chasing powder at Kirkwood Ski resort eclipsed their interest in attending classes. After a ski accident in 1996, Zach received one of the early medical marijuana recommendations from Dr. Banister in Grass Valley, back when there were no dispensaries in Sacramento. Meanwhile, Steve was also an early card holder and possessed a knack for growing cannabis.

Zach embarked on a musical journey, playing guitar for various bands, sharing stages with members from Sublime, Fishbone, LCD Sound System, and more. Upon returning to Sacramento, he delved into cultivation, while Steve and Zach were involved in operating some of the original dispensaries in the area, with Steve at Unity and Zach launching Northstar before venturing on his own.

In 2014, the two friends initiated a grow operation that would evolve into Amplified Farms. With the addition of partner Greg, they began selling to the medical market while perfecting their craft. By 2016, they branded their cannabis as Amplified Farms, known for their small batch, specialty indoor cultivation and a down-to-earth approach in an industry filled with hype. Amplified Farms, with a dedicated 12-person team, grows, packages, and delivers its products to over 75 clubs in California. Their employees have an average tenure of over 4 years, and the company fosters a diverse, positive working culture, offering both healthcare and profit sharing for full-time employees.

However, at its core, Amplified Farms is all about the cannabis. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, all plants are grown in coco, and cared for by hand.  Using a three-part base solution with organic inputs on top insures a tasty smoking experience for the experienced head.  Most cultivars selected by the Amplified team are hard hitters with THC percentages in the 30’s.  With 248 flowering lights total the Amplified team can keep a consistent product on the shelf.  Tended to by people who love the plant, each run is painstakingly curated before, during and after harvest. Expertly cured and hand trimmed, each jar is hand packed, ensuring only the best buds make it to the end user. And the extra work pays off, earning us recognition for quality, including a Hightimes 1st place pre-roll collaboration in 2019, and several awards for our Super Sour Diesel strain.

Amplified farms have been an early adopter of LED technology.  The team was a part of the first public utility funded project with SMUD in Sacramento.  The research was used to develop the rebate program SMUD rolled out for LED grow facilities and got national attention.  Amplified has used a mix of LED and HPS grow lights since.  The facility is mostly fitted with Fluence LED grow lights now, the crew still likes the warmth and explosive growth from the HPS as well and are always on the hunt to update and push the envelope on modern horticulture practices.

Amplified Farms has weathered the highs and lows of the cannabis industry, remaining privately owned and unwavering in their dedication to producing high-Brix flower and ensuring a positive consumer experience.
